I am writing as a concerned resident who values our state’s commitment to protecting civil rights. With Trump reentering the White House in January, I am deeply concerned about the federal policies that could threaten members of our community, and your recent comments that suggested a willingness to deport undocumented immigrants. We need you to stand up for and defend all of our immigrant neighbors. We should not support the Trump administration’s cruel ambitions. I am hopeful that New York lawmakers will approve legislation that would create a right to representation in immigration court, and that you will support it.
