Reject draconian budget cuts, invest in America's future

To: Sen. Cramer, Rep. Fedorchak, Sen. Hoeven

The proposed House budget resolution takes an extreme approach that would significantly undermine vital social programs and public services that millions of Americans rely on. Rather than handing out massive tax breaks that primarily benefit the wealthy and corporations, we should prioritize investing in policies that support working families, strengthen our communities, and promote broadly shared economic prosperity. This budget framework calls for draconian spending cuts of over $2 trillion, with Medicaid, food assistance, education funding and other crucial areas facing the chopping block. Slashing these essential programs would be devastating for vulnerable populations, exacerbate poverty and inequality, and undermine our nation's economic strength and social fabric. Instead of pursuing an agenda of austerity and disinvestment, we should take a balanced approach that raises sufficient revenue through progressive and fair taxation, while also reining in wasteful spending and closing tax loopholes that benefit special interests. Our nation's budgetary priorities should reflect our core values of compassion, opportunity for all, and a commitment to uplifting the common good. I urge you to reject this misguided budget proposal and instead work across the aisle on fiscally responsible solutions that invest in America's future, support working families, and uphold our moral obligation to build a more just, equitable and prosperous society for all. The path forward demands visionary leadership, not reckless cuts that favor the few over the many.
