Oppose the $200 Million WIC Cuts in the FY2027 Agriculture Bill

Oppose the $200 million WIC cuts in the House-passed FY2027 Agriculture appropriations bill. These cuts would put nutritious food out of reach for pregnant people, new parents, and young children — and could force WIC to turn away eligible families for the first time in nearly 30 years. The justification for these cuts doesn't hold up. Republicans are pointing to lower enrollment figures, but that data comes from Q1 of the fiscal year, when a government shutdown caused a temporary dip. WIC enrollment has been rising, and with grocery prices still squeezing household budgets, more families are turning to the program — not fewer. Slashing $141 million in fruit and vegetable benefits for over five million participants isn't fiscal responsibility. It's taking food off the table for the people who can least afford it.
