Vote against the One Big Beautiful Bill that will kill Veterans via Betrayal

June 30, 2025
As a concerned citizen and advocate for our nation’s veterans, I urge you to vote against the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). This bill poses a direct threat to the well-being of those who have served our country by cutting critical programs and services that veterans rely on.
The OBBBA proposes eliminating 83,000 Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) jobs—over 17% of the VA workforce. These cuts would lead to longer wait times for medical care, reduced access to specialized services, and overburdened facilities. This is particularly concerning given that many veterans rely exclusively on the VA for their healthcare needs.
In addition to workforce reductions, the bill threatens over 370 VA clinical trials and research studies focused on conditions such as PTSD, ALS, and traumatic brain injuries. These cuts jeopardize vital medical advancements that could improve the lives of countless veterans suffering from service-related injuries and illnesses.
The OBBBA also indirectly harms veterans by imposing stricter Medicaid work requirements and cutting funding for Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Many veterans who are ineligible for VA healthcare depend on these programs for essential medical coverage. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that these changes will increase the number of uninsured Americans by 10.9 million, disproportionately affecting veterans and their families.
Furthermore, the bill includes $300 billion in cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which provides critical food assistance to low-income families, including thousands of veterans. Food insecurity is already a significant issue among veterans, and these cuts will only worsen the crisis.
Our veterans deserve better than this. The OBBBA undermines the promise we made to care for those who have served our nation. I urge you to vote **NO** on this harmful legislation and instead support policies that truly honor and protect our veterans.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
