Don't Sacrifice Texas for Trillions in Debt—Vote No on OBBBA

To: Rep. Crenshaw

From: A constituent in Spring, TX

July 1, 2025

As your constituent and a proud Texan, I’m writing to strongly urge you to vote NO on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) when it comes before the House. While I understand the desire to make tax relief permanent and support working families, this bill goes too far—and in all the wrong directions. The OBBBA adds $3 to $5 trillion to the national deficit over the next decade. As someone who has heard you speak often about the dangers of runaway spending and long-term fiscal instability, I hope you’ll see that this bill breaks faith with the principles of conservative leadership and responsible governance. Beyond the math, this legislation does real harm to everyday Texans: Medicaid and SNAP cuts will hit the elderly, veterans, and working families hard—especially in rural Texas, where hospitals are already closing and basic care is under threat. Cutting support systems without offering viable alternatives will leave many of your constituents with nowhere to turn. Rolling back clean energy tax credits threatens jobs and innovation right here in Texas. Our state is leading in wind and solar power—these industries are a bright spot in our economy, and they deserve to grow, not be punished. The bill’s proposed changes to Medicare and long-term care programs will place more burden on seniors, many of whom already struggle with fixed incomes and rising healthcare costs. I ask you to look beyond the political branding of this bill and vote based on what’s best for Texas and for the country’s future. You’ve built a reputation for thoughtfulness and integrity—this is the moment to show it by standing up against reckless fiscal policy that endangers both our economy and our people. Please do the right thing. Vote NO on the One Big Beautiful Bill.
