Todd Blanche should not be confirmed as attorney general of the United States. As Donald Trump’s personal attorney, he has made it abundantly clear where his loyalty lies and it is not with the American people. Blanche is actively prosecuting anyone Trump deems as an enemy, including John Brennan, the former CIA director who helped investigate Russian interference in Trump’s 2016 campaign; Cassidy Hutchinson, the former White House aide who testified about the January 6 coup attempt; and James B. Comey, the former FBI director, for posting an “86 47”image on social media. And now he’s going after the Democratic fundraising organization ActBlue. None of these people are credible threats to the nation, only to Donald Trump’s ego. Blanche is also illegally suppressing the Epstein files with his ongoing noncompliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act. So far, under Blanche’s direction, the DOJ has repeatedly missed deadlines on the orders to unredact the records and release the remaining files. Another attempt to shield Trump from harm, despite the damage to the victims. For these reasons, among many others, Todd Blanche should not be confirmed as attorney general and, in fact, should be forced out of his acting role.
