The EPA is no longer going to be regulating greenhouse gasses, and AI data centers are guzzling water and power at ever increasing rates. Some of these centers use hundreds of millions of gallons of water as evaporative cooling, 80% of which evaporates as steam, and 20% of which becomes mineral waste. The world is entering a historically bad water famine- freshwater lakes and seas are drying up, and underground cisterns are disappearing at an alarming rate, and instead of requiring tech billionaires to figure out a more effective and less resource-heavy way to run their data centers, the United States is handing them a blank check which allows them to destroy the climate and the country however they may choose. When 98% of the world scientists agree that climate change is a dire and catastrophic problem that will ultimately destroy our ability to survive on this planet, it would behoove the government of the world to listen. We've had the three hottest years on record, the west is in a catastrophic snow drought, and the United States is de-regulating everything that has been put in place to slow climate change. You live on this planet, and so do your children, and right now you are actively making it so they won't have a chance to survive. I call on Congress to bring back pollution regulations, invest in renewable energy, and put severe limits on data centers regarding where they can build, how much water they can waste, and how much power they can take from the grid.
