Don’t cut Medicaid to bank roll billionaire tax cuts

To: Sen. Cruz, Rep. Crockett, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

February 25

I am writing to express my outrage and deep concern regarding any proposals to cut Medicaid in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. This is not just a policy issue; it is an attack on the most vulnerable members of our society—those who rely on Medicaid for their basic healthcare needs. I cannot believe that you would consider sacrificing the health and well-being of millions of people simply to enrich a small group of already-wealthy individuals. Medicaid is not a luxury; it is a lifeline for millions of children, seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income families. Cutting this critical program will only deepen the suffering of those who already struggle to get by. These cuts will not just affect individuals—they will harm entire communities, putting a strain on local healthcare systems and shifting the burden onto taxpayers who already cannot afford it. Meanwhile, you are proposing tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans—those who already benefit from unimaginable levels of wealth and privilege. This is morally indefensible. How can you justify cutting healthcare for the poor while funneling billions into the pockets of the richest people in this country? This is a betrayal of the very people you were elected to represent. You may claim that tax cuts will stimulate the economy, but the truth is, they will only line the pockets of the wealthy and leave working families behind. The gap between the rich and the rest of us is already wide enough—Medicaid is one of the few programs that provides a semblance of equity, and you want to take that away. I urge you to think long and hard about the consequences of this decision. I am holding you accountable for the choices you make. If you choose to prioritize the rich over the poor, you will answer for it. I demand that you stand up for the people who need you the most—those who depend on Medicaid to survive. Do not allow greed to dictate healthcare policy in this country. I expect you to oppose any efforts to cut Medicaid for the sake of tax cuts for the wealthy. The American people deserve better, and I will not stand by while you abandon the most vulnerable.
