Anti-Zionism is not Anti-Semitism
To: Pres. Biden
From: A constituent in Saint Louis, MO
April 24
I continue to be dismayed and disappointed by your continued inaction and misrepresentation of the genocide in Palestine. You continually conflate anti-Semitism with anti-Zionism, a conscious choice that enables Israel to murder hundreds of Gazans each day. Students have a right to demand their universities divest from genocide. Universities using police to intimidate and arrest student and faculty protestors is a clear violation of the protestors' first amendment rights. The universities and you--those holding power and clearing seeking to maintain it--are on the wrong side of history. The U.S. should not be involved in Israel. We should not be supporting them with money and arms. It is disgraceful and abhorrent that our tax dollars are sent abroad to fund the killing of Gazan children. I demand a permanent ceasefire in Gazan, and an end to American aid to Israel. You have other nonviolent options besides phone calls with Netanyahu to make this happen. Withdraw support, financial and military. Use the power that you hold for good. As Desmond Tutu said, "If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." Don't be neutral. Take decisive action to end Israel's mass killing of Gazans. Not only does Nov. 5 depend on it, lives of the smallest children, without even words to express the horror they are witnessing, do.
