I Strongly Oppose the SAVE Act

To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt

From: A verified voter in Springfield, MO

March 20

I am writing as your constituent to express my deep dismay at your support for the SAVE Act. This legislation which would require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote would create insurmountable barriers for millions of eligible American citizens who do not have immediate access to a passport or birth certificate, effectively stripping them of their constitutional right to vote. Voter fraud in federal elections is demonstrably rare, and no evidence justifies a measure of this magnitude. Rather than protecting our elections, this bill would suppress the voices of the very Missourians you were elected to represent. I urge you in the strongest terms to withdraw your support for this legislation.
