Oppose dangerous deployment of military for domestic law enforcement

To: Sen. Bennet, Rep. Boebert, Sen. Hickenlooper

From: A verified voter in Keenesburg, CO

June 12

The outrageous deployment of military forces tramples on constitutional protections for domestic law enforcement roles. The Posse Comitatus Act and other laws categorically prohibit using the military to enforce civilian laws, with only the narrowest exceptions. Even under dubious claimed authorities, unleashing armed forces on U.S. soil gravely breaches the sacrosanct separation of civil and military powers. History sounds dire warnings about how such ominous precedents lead inexorably to the imposition of martial law and authoritarianism. No amount of logistical preparation justifies this flagrant violation of foundational constitutional principles limiting federal power and safeguarding civilian liberty.
