I want you to know that I hold you and the Republican Party responsible for the government shut down. You control all three branches of government – if you wanted it open, it would be open. I also find it highly laughable that you are decrying the Democrats use of the same tactics that you have used in previous government budget negotiations. For some context, I am currently supporting my mother who is bedbound. My husband is no longer getting paid simply because of the fact that he is a federal worker. In a short period of time, I will have to make a decision on whether or not I can continue to pay for my mother‘s care or whether or not I will have a place to live. At this point I’m really glad my life insurance is paid up because at least then I have an option to take care of both of them. I hope you understand how deeply unpopular the things that you are doing are with the American people. Every poll shows significant underwater ratings for your entire party, especially the president. I also hope you understand how much you are harming your constituents. Please start to make better choices. You have the power to do so and you have the power to help, not hurt, the people that you serve.
