Gender-affirming care, like all healthcare, should be in the hands of the patient, the patient's parents or guardians, and the patient's care providers. Healthcare decisions should never be controlled by the government. Countless studies show that gender-affirming care is necessary to a full and healthy life for many transgender children; their doctors are trained to know what kind of care is appropriate for each situation. Allow them and their charges to make these decisions for themselves. In an era when so much anti-trans hate is being spread far and wide, this only worsens the stigma. Do you even want to win in November? This is unconscionable.
