The proposed legislation to abolish the Department of Education would have severe negative consequences for educational equity and access across the nation. Quality education is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of a thriving society. Dismantling the Department would disproportionately impact marginalized communities, widening existing achievement gaps and perpetuating systemic inequalities. We cannot afford to undermine the federal role in ensuring all students, regardless of background, receive a fair and equal opportunity to learn and succeed. I urge you to reject this misguided effort and instead work to strengthen and improve educational opportunities for all Americans. Our shared future depends on investing in a robust public education system that empowers every child to reach their full potential.
