URGENT! restore snap and wic benfits

To: Sen. Baldwin, Rep. Moore, Sen. Johnson

From: A constituent in Milwaukee, WI

October 31

I’m writing as a concerned Wisconsin resident to urge you to immediately restore full funding for SNAP and WIC benefits. These programs are not just line items in a budget — they are lifelines for families, children, seniors, and workers across our state who are struggling to put food on the table. Right now, we are facing a growing food emergency in the United States. Across the country — including here in Wisconsin — families are experiencing food insecurity at levels that resemble famine conditions in some communities. Shelves at food pantries are being emptied faster than they can be stocked. Parents are skipping meals so their children can eat. It’s hard to comprehend that in one of the wealthiest nations on Earth, millions of Americans are going hungry. While billionaires and large corporations can weather any storm, ordinary people don’t have that luxury. Working families shouldn’t have to choose between paying rent, buying medication, or feeding their children. SNAP and WIC are among the most effective programs we have to prevent hunger and stabilize families in crisis. Cutting them now — or letting their funding lapse — would be catastrophic. Please treat this as the emergency that it is. I urge you to stand up for Wisconsin families and restore full funding for SNAP and WIC immediately. Hunger should never be a policy choice. Thank you for your attention and for your commitment to the people you represent.
