I am writing to you today not just as a constituent, but as a taxpayer who is absolutely disgusted by the blatant culture of corruption and self-indulgence currently on display at the highest levels of our government. While the American people are being told to "tighten their belts" and endure the consequences of a gridlocked Congress, FBI Director Kash Patel is currently treating the United States Treasury like his personal travel agency. Last week, Director Patel took a $75,000 private jet trip to the Winter Olympics in Italy to watch hockey games and party in locker rooms. Let that sink in: $75,000 of our money was spent so a government official could enjoy a European vacation under the thin veil of "official business." While Director Patel was sipping beer and celebrating in Milan, my own family was facing a far more grim reality. Because of this government’s utter inability to provide stable, affordable healthcare to its citizens, members of my family have recently lost their health insurance. They are now living in fear of a single medical emergency ruining them financially, while the man tasked with "rebuilding trust" in the FBI uses a $60 million G550 jet to fly to his favorite sporting events. The hypocrisy is breathtaking. In 2023, Kash Patel himself called for grounding government jets to save taxpayer money. Now that he is in power, he has apparently decided that those same rules don’t apply to him. From golf trips in Scotland to hunting ranches in Texas and now the Olympics in Italy, the "grift" has become the standard operating procedure. I am demanding that you take the following actions immediately: 1. Launch a formal inquiry into Director Patel’s travel records and demand a full, itemized reimbursement for any portion of this trip that was personal. 2. Legislate strict oversight on the use of the FBI’s aviation fleet to ensure these planes are used for national security, not for "date nights" or Olympic festivities. 3. Explain to me how you can justify the $75,000 cost of a single man’s weekend in Italy while my family is being stripped of the right to see a doctor. The American people are tired of being treated like a blank check for a ruling class that feels no obligation to serve anyone but themselves. I expect a response that addresses the healthcare crisis in my home, not a boilerplate defense of government "security protocols." The era of "do as I say, not as I do" must end.
