This is a letter to all my elected officials at the state and federal level all of whom are, unfortunately, Republican. trump was found guilty on all 34 counts. A jury of average Americans found him guilty after looking at the mounds of evidence. I for one feel more hopeful today than I have for most of the last eight years. It seems regular Americans aren’t all evil, stupid, and hateful but are capable of using reason and of putting country over party. The sense of relief I feel is enormous. I know there’s more ch yet to do in this country, but for the first time in a long time the world and my own future seem less bleak. I see the partisan hatred. As someone who voted for Reagan, I’ve been shocked at just how anti-American the GOP has become. It sickens me and even keeps me up worrying at night. I get that you are obligated to say SOMETHING & that none of you have the courage of a Liz Cheney, but maybe tone it down a bit. Undermining the rule of law and our system of justice is really a bad look. It just shows that you don’t value our system and that you’ve put party over country. Maybe give it a rest. Doe silly you Senator Cruz and you Governor Abbott. Your overly dramatic pronouncements are just too much. I’ve yet to read Paxton’s statement, but I really have trouble dealing with the guy who’s not only a crook but who’s also responsible for botching so many child srx trafficking cases in our state. Many Americans, including many Texans, are feeling a tad more hopeful about our country tonight. Perhaps don’t ruin it by groveling in front of a rapist too much.
