Reject unqualified, partisan FBI Director nominee Kash Patel

To: Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in McKinney, TX

December 2, 2024

Kash Patel's nomination as FBI Director is deeply concerning and should not be confirmed. His lack of experience working at senior levels within the FBI renders him unqualified for this critical role overseeing domestic national security. Moreover, Patel's close ties to former President Trump, including serving on the board of his media company and promoting conspiracy theories through a propaganda book series, raise alarming questions about his ability to lead the FBI with impartiality and integrity. There are legitimate fears that Patel would weaponize the Bureau to settle personal vendettas, cover up potential crimes, and spread disinformation defending the former president, no matter the cost to truth or justice. His confirmation would undermine public trust in the FBI at a time when the nation's premier law enforcement agency must remain apolitical and focused on upholding the rule of law. For the sake of preserving the FBI's independence and effectiveness in keeping Americans safe, I urge you to reject Kash Patel's nomination. The Bureau's next Director must be a deeply experienced law enforcement professional committed to the truth above any partisan allegiances. Patel fails to meet this essential criterion.
