July 4th belongs to the American people, not to any political party or president. Trump's plan to host what he's calling "the most spectacular TRUMP RALLY of them all" at the Lincoln Memorial is a blatant misuse of federal property for partisan purposes, and I want you to block any public funding or federal resources from supporting it. The evidence that this is a political event, not a national celebration, is right there in the name. Artists pulled out of the broader Great American State Fair specifically because, as Young MC put it, "the artists were never told about any political involvement with the event." At least eight states are refusing to participate. Massachusetts is being asked to pay for the privilege. This is a Trump production dressed up as a national holiday, and taxpayers shouldn't foot the bill for it. If he wants to throw a rally, he can fund it like any other campaign event.
