As your constituent, I am asking you to hold Tesla responsible for their use of forced child labor in the cobalt supply chain.
Children in the Democratic Republic of Congo are being trafficked, coerced, and forced to work in dangerous conditions to mine cobalt — a key material in the batteries that power electric vehicles. These are not isolated or unverified claims. Investigations, survivor testimony, and years of reporting have made it clear: forced child labor is part of the system that supports Tesla’s business.
Tesla currently sources cobalt from companies with documented links to these abuses — including Glencore, Huayou Cobalt, and CNGR — yet refuses to publicly disclose its full list of suppliers or allow independent audits of its cobalt sourcing.
This is unacceptable. The clean energy transition must not be built on exploitation.
Tesla must be held accountable to:
• Audits and public disclosure of its cobalt supply chain
• Taking action to prevent and mitigate risks of forced child labor
• Investing in long-term solutions to prevent forced child labor in the cobalt industry
If Tesla wants to lead the future, it must act responsibly in the present.
