Demand thorough vetting process for all cabinet nominees
To: Sen. Baldwin, Sen. Johnson
From: A constituent in Eau Claire, WI
November 22
Thorough and established vetting procedures like FBI background checks are essential to ensuring cabinet nominees do not pose conflicts of interest, have criminal histories, or other potential disqualifying issues that could undermine national security and public trust. It is concerning that this process has allegedly been bypassed for some of President-elect Trump's controversial cabinet picks. Figures like Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who have faced accusations of conflicts and admitted past substance abuse struggles respectively, must undergo rigorous scrutiny to determine their fitness for such immensely powerful positions overseeing critical areas like intelligence and public health. Failing to properly vet appointees risks placing unqualified or compromised individuals in roles that directly impact national interests and security. I urge you to demand full transparency on the administration's vetting processes and insist all nominees receive comprehensive background checks by the FBI or other appropriate agencies. Senators must also exert pressure and make clear that bypassing this established accountability measure is unacceptable. Upholding proper vetting promotes ethical governance and public confidence that those in power meet the highest standards.
