Re the Interior-Environment appropriations bill: please strike language allowing wholesale euthanasia of wild horse. They are meant to be protected by federal law. I would also point out cattle cause far more destruction on BLM land than horses, but horses stand in the way of profit. According to Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER), an analysis of BLM’s own records reveals the majority of public acreage across the West, including Nevada, is failing land-health standards, primarily due to livestock grazing — not wild horses. Millions of acres haven’t even been assessed, conveniently obscuring the scale of ecological degradation caused by ranching operations. Please protect our horses!
