Support public broadcasting

To: Sen. Baldwin, Rep. Fitzgerald, Sen. Johnson

From: A constituent in Waukesha, WI

June 5

I am a mother of two school-age children, a teacher, and a proud member of my community in Waukesha, Wisconsin. I am firmly opposed to the current recission request that has come to Congress, impacting already approved federal funding for foreign aid and public broadcasting. The funding included here for public broadcasting is a small amount but has large impact. The vast majority of this money supports small local or rural public broadcasting stations, who often operate in areas where fundraising is more difficult. Yet they serve critical functions in those rural and local areas. They often are the primary way to broadcast emergency alerts, weather-related alerts, or relay important news. Cancelling this funding will disproportionately affect those who don't have access or funds for a wider array of options in getting these alerts. Public broadcasting is a valuable service in our nation. I want this small proportion of my tax dollars to be spent supporting public broadcasting, and I ask that you -- as my representative -- speak out against this recission request. Thank you.
