America is a Country, Not a Branding Opportunity

I am writing for the official record to state that Americans deserve an administration that treats public life, national milestones, and shared community spaces as public trusts, not vehicles for a personal brand. True leadership prioritizes the public interest over executive self-promotion. The current administration continuously blurs governance with personal marketing, undermining shared cultural moments through actions like these three documented examples: - Politicizing the America 250 Celebration: Congress intended the nation's 250th anniversary to be a unifying, non-partisan milestone. Instead, the administration reframed the celebration as a political rally, causing multiple musical acts to withdraw and forcing a replacement June 24th campaign-style "Rally to end all Rallies." Furthermore, putting the President's likeness and signature on standard passports, National Parks passes, and coins sets a dangerous precedent of turning federal documents into promotional merchandise. - The Albania Land Grab ("Flamingo Revolution"): Jared Kushner’s firm, Affinity Partners, is leveraging proximity to power to build a luxury resort on Sazan Island and the Vjosa-Narta protected wetlands in Albania. This project sparked daily mass protests in Tirana—the "Flamingo Revolution"—and prompted Albania’s anti-corruption body (SPAK) to probe transparency failures and sudden legislative workarounds. Using political influence to bypass environmental protections compromises the presidency and damages foreign relations. - Disrupting Civic Spaces for Photo Ops: The President's insistence on attending Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden severely disrupted regular citizens. To accommodate security, the NYPD canceled popular outdoor watch parties, denying fans a historic experience. Ticket holders faced hours of security bottlenecks, while severe traffic gridlock disrupted local commuters and workers simply trying to navigate the city. Public lands, national history, and community sports belong to the public, not an executive brand. It really isn't about him. Therefore, we demand the following actions: 1. Halt Vanity Merch: Immediately cease producing all America 250 materials, passports, currency, and National Park assets featuring the President's likeness or signature. Federal property must remain neutral. 2. Protect Civic Events: Ensure that federal security resources and official events are not used to transform non-partisan national holidays or local sporting events into campaign rallies. 3. Ensure Foreign Deal Transparency: Cooperate fully with oversight bodies regarding the diplomatic influence, transparency failures, and legislative changes tied to the Kushner family's development deals in Albania. We demand an administration that serves the people, respects civic boundaries, and upholds the dignity of public institutions.
