Concerns about Meta Muse - Deepfake AI Photos at Scale

To: Rep. Lieu, Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla

From: A constituent in Redondo Beach, CA

July 9

Meta has released a new AI feature called Muse that allows AI to remix anyone's public photo. I think from a privacy perspective this is a huge concern. People will be allowed to remix photos of others without their permission, which is a huge privacy violation. Generative AI technology can produce photos that show events or situations that may have never happened. At a minimum, people should need to opt-in to this technology, not opt-out. Photos should be clearly watermarked to indicate that they are AI-generated. Tell Meta to respect people's privacy now.
