I am writing to support your opposition to H.R. 7661. My children have never needed to be “protected” by the government from words or ideas. As a parent, I am able to help them think critically in a way that fosters their independence and agency. Banning books does nothing to build this strength. In addition, allowing the government to claim control over what ideas or words are acceptable has no place in a democratic society. H.R. 7661 decreases a good for children while infringing on freedom for all. Please do all you can to oppose it.
