Gay marriage should remain legal and equal rights should be protected for all citizens, regardless of sexual orientation. Attempting to overturn the Supreme Court's landmark 2015 decision legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide would be a regressive step that undermines civil liberties and discriminates against members of the LGBTQ+ community. As an elected official, it is your duty to represent and safeguard the rights of all your constituents, not target or marginalize vulnerable groups based on personal beliefs. I urge you to reconsider this harmful stance against marriage equality and instead focus your efforts on promoting inclusion, respect for diversity, and equal protection under the law for all Michiganders.
