Impeach Now — The Safety of the World Demands It
To: Sen. Grassley, Sen. Ernst, Rep. Nunn

April 9
I am your constituent, and I am writing to you not as a Democrat or a Republican, but as an American who is watching the United States cross a line from which there may be no return. What has happened in the past 30 days is no longer a matter of policy disagreement. It is a constitutional emergency that demands your immediate action. On April 7, 2026, President Donald Trump posted publicly that "a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again." He threatened to destroy every bridge, every power plant, and every water treatment facility in Iran — actions that legal scholars across the political spectrum have confirmed would constitute war crimes under international law. He initiated this conflict without a congressional declaration of war, in direct violation of the Constitution's War Powers Clause and the War Powers Act. He has been conducting an illegal war at the cost of American lives, global economic stability, and our nation's standing in the world — and he escalated it to the threshold of genocide in a social media post. The response was immediate and unprecedented. Pope Leo XIV — the first American-born pope in history — called Trump's threat "truly unacceptable" and took the extraordinary step of urging citizens to contact their elected representatives to demand peace. When the pope of the Catholic Church crosses into politics to tell Americans to call Congress, we are no longer in ordinary times. What followed was worse: the Pentagon summoned the Vatican's American representative to what multiple officials and reporters have described as a direct threat against the Holy See. The Trump administration then threatened the pope. Let that settle in. This is not just about Iran. It is about a systematic dismantling of the constitutional order that your oath requires you to protect. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth shared classified military strike plans — pulled directly from a secure intelligence channel — on a commercial messaging app, including with his wife, his brother, and his personal attorney, none of whom held the appropriate clearances. The Pentagon's own Inspector General concluded that his actions created a direct risk to the lives of U.S. pilots and the success of ongoing military operations. Any enlisted service member who did this would face court-martial. Hegseth still holds the nation's highest defense post. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent granted DOGE — an unelected, unconfirmed operation run by a private billionaire — unprecedented access to the personal financial data of nearly every American taxpayer, in apparent violation of Section 6103 of the Internal Revenue Code. Federal courts have repeatedly found these and related actions unconstitutional. More than a dozen active lawsuits challenge the administration's seizure of government payment systems, mass illegal firings, and impoundment of congressionally appropriated funds in violation of the Impoundment Control Act. This Cabinet has not merely made mistakes. It has acted with consistent contempt for the law, for Congress, and for the Constitution — and the evidence is documented, verified, and growing. Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution exists precisely for this moment. The President, Vice President, and all civil officers shall be removed upon impeachment and conviction of high crimes and misdemeanors. Multiple articles of impeachment have already been introduced in the 119th Congress. The constitutional mechanism is ready. What is missing is the political will. I am asking you directly: will you sponsor or actively support articles of impeachment against President Trump and the removal of Cabinet members whose conduct has placed this nation and the world in danger? Please respond publicly — on the record — with a clear yes or no, and your reasons why. Your constituents deserve that accountability, whatever your answer. This is not about party. Senator Ed Markey said it plainly: "He must be removed from office before he causes incalculable and unfathomable harm." Former Trump ally Marjorie Taylor Greene posted "25TH AMENDMENT!!!" Alex Jones called his Iran threats "the definition of genocide." When voices from across the entire political spectrum reach the same conclusion, the question stops being partisan and becomes moral. History will not be kind to those who saw what was happening and chose silence. Please act now.
