Certain concerning proposals have been floated to deport American citizens to prisons in foreign countries like El Salvador, circumventing due process. This would deprive U.S. citizens of their constitutional rights and violate human rights norms. As representatives sworn to uphold the Constitution, you bear the grave responsibility of safeguarding the rights and liberties of all Americans. No citizen should be subjected to extrajudicial transfers or detention without legal recourse. Protecting both security and civil liberties requires adhering to the rule of law and principles of justice. Depriving citizens of their freedom through unlawful means would undermine the very foundations this nation was built upon. I urge you to reject any proposals enabling the unlawful removal or imprisonment of American citizens abroad.
