The new documents released by the Trump administration highlight concerning issues regarding due process in the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Despite having no criminal record and an immigration judge previously ruling that he had a well-founded fear of persecution in El Salvador, Abrego Garcia was deported based on limited evidence such as his clothing and an uncorroborated allegation from a confidential informant. The government's actions appear to violate principles of due process and contradict the immigration judge's earlier decision granting him protection from removal. There must be clear and convincing evidence, not mere allegations, to justify deporting individuals, especially those previously granted relief from removal. Deportations should follow proper legal procedures and afford individuals a fair opportunity to challenge the grounds for their removal. Expediting deportations without adherence to due process undermines the integrity of the immigration system and the rule of law.
