IRS Free file worked well, saved time and saved Americans money. Last year my family members used IRS free tax returns. The IRS product was better than anything else I've used. It was relatively straightforward, it got the job done and it was over with! The year before I had to pay $150 for a commercial program and each of my adult children paid $80 for a similar service. Sadly Congress doesn't want IRS to provide services and is forcing us to use paid services. This year it will cost me $170 for my returns and at least $80 for each of my children. Give Americans the simple ability to pay taxes by reinstating IRS’s Free File program and re-hiring the staff to keep it running smoothly. This is a simple service that the government should be providing.
