WE’VE COME A LONG WAY BABY

To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Pfluger, Sen. Cruz

From: A verified voter in Mason, TX

August 31

Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas. More and more reading about past comments from JD Vance pontificating on his expertise about all things woman-related. Women, by being convinced that success and independence will lead to happiness instead find that they are miserable. And would be much happier being at home with the kids. With a man to protect them. We read that his making fun of a stressed Miss Teen USA by spreading an old meme of her public meltdown, was just a joke. Which we should do more of. A joke on a woman, directed at another woman, to attempt to illustrate that we’re all just ditzy I guess. And should instead be at home with kids instead of trying to be president. And what does he deem the root of all of our womanly misery? Universities. Where we are taught to think. And maybe to believe that we might have worth other than as merely procreators. We’re evidently being led to misery by American opportunities that were once only available to men. And which apparently Mr. Vance thinks we should be deprived of again. For our own good. It’s bad enough that Mr. Trump is going around promising IVF to everyone on the government’s dime, while at the same time making sure that women still don’t receive proper reproductive healthcare regardless of how a child is conceived. An IVF pregnancy gone wrong still won’t be resolved without unnecessary pain and suffering. He won’t fix health problems involved with pregnancy by promising us more pregnancies over which we would still have no control. And we all know that Mr. Trump is himself an old-school misogynist, to put it charitably. But this new wave of women-squishing masculinity doesn’t remind me of anything but the Taliban. Look at what they have done to women in Afghanistan and tell me there’s no equivalency. But there’s still a big difference. We American women can vote. We don’t know our place anymore. And we’re oh so mouthy. We won’t be going back.
