Approve Federal Disaster Relief for Mississippi

It’s now been over five weeks since the devastating tornadoes hit Mississippi on March 14 and 15, yet the state still hasn’t received a federal disaster declaration. Communities are stranded. Families remain without shelter, and local governments don’t have the resources to begin critical repairs to homes, roads, and utilities.
Governor Reeves formally requested federal assistance on April 1, and the entire Mississippi congressional delegation echoed that call in a letter dated April 2. The damage is widespread, the need is urgent, and this delay is hurting lives and livelihoods.
You have a chance to lead and show the people of Mississippi and the country that when disaster strikes, Americans show up for one another. Please approve Mississippi’s disaster declaration without further delay.
