For profit medical insurance companies should not exist, at all.
It should be Medicare for all, or better, for every American, regardless of age.
Real life illustration:
“Our health insurance, Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah @regenceutah is denying coverage of a cancer drug (Perjeta) for my wife Raven's breast cancer treatment that is the standard of care, prescribed by our oncologist at Huntsman Cancer Institute, a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, a drug approved by the FDA in 2017 for this exact condition and protocol, based on clinical trials that shows clear benefits
and recommended by every gold standard clinical guideline in the world including NCCN, ASCO, & NICE.
“There is no world in which this is right, & I won't stand for it. Regence's argument that the drug is "investigational" in this setting with "no known" benefits is complete BS, & they aren't going to get away with it. Not while I'm still breathing.
“We will soon file a second level appeal this week, then proceed to an external review. If that fails, we will file a lawsuit in federal court.”
