End ICE Mass Surveillance and Destroy All Collected Data

To: Rep. McClintock, Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla

From: A constituent in El Dorado Hills, CA

March 10

Congress must immediately investigate ICE's mass surveillance practices and pass legislation to end this program. Mass surveillance is what authoritarian regimes like China, North Korea, and Putin's Russia do. The United States is supposed to be a free country. This kind of surveillance violates every American's right to privacy. Our government has no business constantly tracking and monitoring its own citizens. These practices trample our civil rights and freedoms that distinguish us from authoritarian states. Congress must also ensure that all databases used in this surveillance are completely wiped clean. No contractors can retain any copies of this data. Americans' personal information cannot be allowed to sit in private hands where it could be misused, sold, or leaked in the future. Complete destruction of all collected data is the only acceptable outcome. I expect you to take concrete action to protect our privacy. Support investigations into ICE's surveillance operations, vote for policies that restrict government mass surveillance, and mandate the permanent deletion of all data collected through these programs. We cannot claim to be the land of the free while our government surveils us like we're enemies of the state.
