Nine Democrats. Two Republicans. Top two primary.
You all know the math. If Democrats split the vote across a bunch of ego driven campaigns while Republicans consolidate, you can hand both November spots to the GOP in a state that does not even support them.
That is not bad luck. That is political malpractice.
Candidates without a real path who stay in anyway are not helping. They are risking their own districts, weakening their own party, and gambling the state to prop up personal ambition.
And leaders who see this coming and stay quiet are just as responsible.
Governor Newsom and other Democratic leaders, use your platform. Make the calls. Tell people to step aside. This is not the moment for politeness. It is the moment for basic competence.
If this goes sideways, it will not be a surprise. It will be because no one wanted to say the obvious out loud.
