Demand for Immediate Congressional Investigation into Presidential Conduct
To: Rep. Grijalva, Sen. Kelly, Sen. Gallego

April 21
I am writing to demand immediate and serious congressional action in response to deeply alarming reporting about the conduct and leadership of Donald Trump. The pattern that has emerged is not merely troubling—it represents a clear and present danger to U.S. national security, economic stability, and the integrity of our democratic institutions. Recent reporting from multiple major outlets describes a president who is erratic, impulsive, and at times so unstable that aides have reportedly limited his direct involvement during critical national security briefings. During an active military conflict with Iran, the United States cannot afford improvisation, volatility, or decision-making driven by emotion rather than strategy. Yet that is precisely what has been described. The administration’s failure to anticipate or effectively respond to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz—despite explicit warnings—has had severe global consequences. The president’s shifting and contradictory directives, combined with inflammatory and undisciplined public statements, have only heightened instability and risked further escalation. This is not strong leadership; it is reckless. Equally disturbing are credible reports suggesting possible financial misconduct tied to presidential actions. Evidence of suspicious market activity occurring shortly before major policy announcements raises serious concerns about insider trading connected to national security decisions. These allegations alone warrant immediate, aggressive investigation. There are also glaring and unacceptable conflicts of interest. Jared Kushner—while reportedly involved in diplomatic efforts—has financial entanglements with foreign powers that would be disqualifying in any functioning system of ethical governance. At the same time, reports of business activities by individuals connected to the president during an active conflict raise further concerns about profiteering and abuse of power. The breakdown in leadership extends into key institutions. Reporting on the conduct of Kash Patel raises serious questions about the stability, independence, and credibility of federal law enforcement at a moment when those qualities are essential. The apparent politicization and mismanagement of such institutions compound the risks already created at the executive level. This is a moment that demands courage from Congress. Continued inaction or deference is not neutrality—it is complicity. The Constitution does not grant the executive unchecked authority, and it is the duty of the Senate to act as a co-equal branch of government, particularly when credible evidence points to instability, misconduct, and potential corruption at the highest levels. I am asking you to: • Immediately support and initiate full congressional investigations into the administration’s handling of the Iran conflict • Subpoena relevant communications and financial records related to potential insider trading • Investigate conflicts of interest involving individuals engaged in both U.S. diplomacy and private financial dealings • Exercise rigorous oversight of national security and law enforcement leadership, including fitness for office The American people are watching. Public trust is eroding, and the consequences of inaction will not be abstract—they will be measured in lives, economic harm, and long-term damage to our global standing. This situation requires urgency, seriousness, and a willingness to put country above party. I urge you to act accordingly. Sincerely,
