Reverse military overreach on undocumented immigrants, uphold civil liberties

The recent move allowing the U.S. military to detain and search undocumented immigrants in New Mexico is a concerning overreach that undermines civil liberties. There is no provision keeping this to just immigrants, no protection for American citizens. This is a blatant attempt to circumvent the Posse Comitatus Act! Granting the military expanded authority to engage in law enforcement activities on U.S. soil sets a dangerous precedent and risks eroding constitutional protections. This blurs the line between civilian and military spheres, enabling the potential abuse of power against citizens as well. While immigration is a complex issue, militarizing enforcement and circumventing legal constraints is an unacceptable approach that threatens our democratic values. I urge you to take immediate action to reverse this policy and uphold the principles of due process and protection from unreasonable search and seizure that are cornerstones of our free society.
