The Governor Should Leave Municipal Utilities (CPS) Alone!
To: Gov. Abbott
From: A constituent in San Antonio, TX
August 9
I read your proposal to have the state legislature end or break-up City Public Service (CPS) control of San Antonio’s municipal power distribution to most of Bexar county. How unnecessary and unwarranted. With all due respect, might I suggest you focus on maintenance and upgrades to the state power grid and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas. The power grid does not interconnect with other nearby regional grids and is reported to have inadequate technical capability for handling data-center loads, renewables or battery storage capabilities. CPS has done a wonderful job of maintaining high reliability and low rates for residents, commercial and industrial customers alike. Please focus on statewide issues of power generation and distribution and leave local municipal utilities to the job they do best, thank you.
