Immediate State Action Needed on ICE Threats

To: Sen. DeCoite, Rep. Yamashita, Gov. Green

From: A constituent in Kula, HI

January 14

Thank you for your continued work protecting our communities and defending democracy. I deeply appreciate your leadership and fully support you as you continue that fight. I’m urgently reaching out because ICE’s escalating rights violations and violence across multiple states pose a serious threat. I am deeply concerned about the impact on our residents if ICE carries out aggressive operations in our state. No agency should be allowed to endanger people or violate constitutional protections. I’m asking you to: • Support withholding approval of the upcoming federal budget unless ICE’s funding is significantly reduced. • Advocate for a freeze on ICE enforcement activities until the agency accounts for every person detained and proves compliance with constitutional standards. • Require full transparency and public reporting of ICE actions affecting our state. • Use your authority to protect residents and ensure no agency operates above the law. Thank you again for your commitment and courage. Strong state leadership is essential right now.
