H.R. 7008, the Stop Insider Trading Act, would restrict members of Congress, their spouses, and their children from buying new individual stocks while in office. That’s a start, but it falls well short of proposals that require officials to divest from all stock holdings. It doesn’t ban congressional insider trading outright, and it doesn’t address potential insider trading by the President or Vice President
House Republicans passed it with a poison pill: H.R. 9368, the Voter ID Act, which mirrors the restrictive voter ID provisions of the SAVE Act, which would disenfranchise American voters.
OPPOSE H.R. 7008, the Stop Insider Trading Act.
I demand a real, stronger ban on congressional stock trading, without a side of voter suppression.
