I am writing as a constituent outraged by the escalation of federal violence in immigration enforcement and the lack of accountability from Department of Homeland Security leadership.
ICE enforcement has become increasingly lethal and unrestrained. In 2025, deaths in ICE custody reached the highest level in more than two decades, alongside an increase in shootings and other use-of-force incidents. These are not isolated failures; they reflect systemic oversight breakdowns and enforcement practices that rely on fear rather than law.
As an elected official, you have a responsibility to protect your constituents and to protect this country from abuses of power and reckless law-enforcement practices. That responsibility includes acting when federal agencies endanger lives and undermine constitutional limits.
Secretary Kristi Noem has overseen an enforcement regime marked by preventable deaths, blocked transparency, and resistance to oversight. That failure demands consequences.
I urge you to defund ICE enforcement operations, support impeachment inquiries into Secretary Noem, and demand independent investigations and public reporting of all use-of-force incidents.
Law enforcement must protect the public, not terrorize communities. Congress must act.
