Safeguard democracy, stand firm against Russia's authoritarianism

To: Rep. Womack, Sen. Boozman, Sen. Cotton

From: A constituent in Fayetteville, AR

March 3

I am deeply concerned about the alarming ties between the United States government and the authoritarian Russian regime under Vladimir Putin. The recent decision to pause a critical cybersecurity program aimed at deterring Russian hacking operations is a misguided move that undermines our national security. Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, alignment with rogue states like North Korea, and well-documented efforts to interfere in our elections demonstrate that they pose a grave threat to democracy and global stability. Granting Russian state media access to the White House while restricting reputable American outlets like the Associated Press and Reuters is an affront to press freedom and transparency. I urge you to reconsider this dangerous path of accommodation with Putin's regime and take immediate steps to hold Russia accountable for its malign actions. We must prioritize safeguarding our democratic institutions from foreign interference and stand firmly against the spread of authoritarianism worldwide.
