END THE GOVERNMENT'S CONTRACTS WITH ELON MUSK

To: Rep. Lieu, Sen. Butler, Sen. Padilla

From: A verified voter in Santa Monica, CA

September 25

Hi, I’m a constituent from Santa Monica, CA 90403 and a member of Indivisible Westside Los Angeles. I’m writing in response to Elon Musk’s comments on social media. While he’s deleted the post, Musk clearly made a threat against Vice President Harris and President Biden. Elon Musk has proven time and again that he’s a loose cannon and a national security risk. The fact that the U.S. government continues to work with Musk on defense contracts is unbelievable and I want you to act. Outside of his frequent social media comments, Musk has proven he’s not above using his companies to influence geopolitics - e.g. his denial to the Ukrainians re: Starlink usage in the Crimea. Why is the U.S. government enabling an unreliable partner by allowing him access to classified materials, who routinely goes against their interests? Also, at the most basic level, the government’s reliance on Musk is helping contribute to a monopoly. This will only get worse over time. The government has to act now and cancel its defense contracts with Musk. I know that ending ties with Musk won’t be easy, but his threats against VP Harris and Pres. Biden show that the process has to start now. Thank you for your time and attention.
