Fight Antisemitism and Anti-Palestinian Racism by Refusing Zionism

The weaponization of antisemitism accusations is a major concern that must be addressed. It not only puts vulnerable Jewish communities at risk, but also fuels discrimination against Palestinians, Arabs, and Muslims. The conflation of Jewish identity with unquestioning support for Israel's policies is itself an antisemitic notion that denies the diversity of Jewish perspectives. We must reject the exploitation of this sensitive issue for political gain and instead promote genuine anti-racist solidarity. The Gaza solidarity encampments across campuses bring together people of all backgrounds in a shared struggle for justice, equality and peace. They stand against antisemitism and all forms of hate. The proposed Antisemitism Awareness Act's definition focuses disproportionately on criticism of Israel while ignoring the real threat of white supremacist violence against Jews. This deeply problematic framing actively undermines efforts to combat genuine antisemitism. We cannot allow such a flawed approach to take hold. It is imperative that our representatives take a principled stance against the cynical weaponization of antisemitism accusations. This divisive tactic sows further hatred and discord when we should be fostering mutual understanding. We must fight antisemitism and anti-Palestinian racism through truth, justice and inclusive anti-racist movements.
