NOAA Funding is Critical to Nebraska’s Safety and Economy

To: Sen. Fischer, Sen. Ricketts, Rep. Bacon

From: A constituent in Omaha, NE

April 27

I’m writing to urge you to fight for full funding for NOAA and other critical weather monitoring services. In Nebraska, accurate weather forecasting isn’t just helpful — it’s the backbone of our economy and a matter of life and death. Our farmers, ranchers, truckers, airlines, and energy companies all depend on precise, real-time weather data to make decisions that impact millions of dollars and thousands of jobs. Without reliable forecasts, our crops fail, our supply chains falter, and our communities are put at serious risk. Nebraska faces tornadoes, floods, droughts, and wildfires — sometimes all in the same year. We need strong, well-funded weather monitoring to stay ahead of these threats. Every minute of warning can mean the difference between life and death. Cutting funding would cripple our ability to prepare for disasters and would cost far more in emergency response, property loss, and lives. Please stand up for Nebraska. Protect NOAA. Protect our people. Protect our economy.
