Reject disenfranchising voting legislation against minority communities
To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. McCaul
From: A constituent in Cedar Park, TX
February 20
The SAVE Act would impose strict documentary proof of citizenship requirements to register to vote in federal elections, disenfranchising millions of eligible voters who lack ready access to birth certificates or other documents, including rural voters. This unnecessary barrier to voting would disproportionately impact Black, Latino, Asian American, Native American, and rural voters born in the United States. Voting is a fundamental right in a democracy, and erecting hurdles to exercise that right undermines the integrity of our elections. I urge you to reject this pernicious legislation that threatens to disenfranchise millions of American citizens.
