I am writing to urge you to take immediate action against the Trump administration's escalating attacks on immigrant communities and hold this administration accountable for authoritarian and unlawful tactics that violate constitutional rights and human dignity. Recent ICE operations have targeted Democratic-led cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Charlotte, and New Orleans, as well as specific communities like Somali immigrants in Minnesota. These raids have resulted in the wrongful detention of hundreds of U.S. citizens, often due to racial profiling. Following Operation Midway Blitz in Chicago and Alligator Alcatraz in Miami, thousands of immigrants have gone missing with no accountability or transparency from federal authorities. ICE agents have used indiscriminate violence against legal observers and peaceful protesters. After one ICE agent in Minneapolis murdered U.S. citizen Renee Nicole Good, ICE leadership dismissed the attack as "self-defense" despite clear video evidence to the contrary. This pattern of violence and impunity demonstrates the urgent need for congressional oversight and accountability. ICE detention facilities have documented 510 identifiable human rights violations, including sexual assault, medical negligence, and mistreatment of children and pregnant people. The administration has also paused green cards and citizenship applications for people from 19 countries, canceled citizenship ceremonies, and revived family separation policies affecting hundreds of children. These actions represent a systematic assault on immigrant communities and fundamental American values. The administration is deploying invasive surveillance tools including facial recognition spyware, phone hacking capabilities, social media monitoring, and license plate tracking systems like Flock Safety to profile and track individuals. This surveillance infrastructure threatens the privacy and civil liberties of all Americans, not just immigrants. I am asking you to take three specific actions. First, demand a full investigation into ICE agents' conduct, particularly their indiscriminate use of deadly force against protesters and the conditions at detention facilities. Second, refuse to pass any DHS appropriations bill that fully funds ICE operations enabling these human rights violations. Third, call for the impeachment of Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem for overseeing these unconstitutional practices. These policies are indicators of rising authoritarianism in America. I need to know that you will conduct public oversight investigations and forcefully condemn these targeted racist attacks against immigrant populations. Your constituents are watching how you respond to this crisis.
