Why Are You Allowing This Decline to Continue?
To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt
From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO
March 18
I am writing to ask you a direct and serious question: why are you standing by while clear signs of cognitive decline at the highest levels of leadership are affecting the direction of our country?
This is not about party loyalty, it is about responsibility. When leadership appears impaired, the consequences ripple across policy decisions, economic stability, and national security. The American people expect elected officials like you to act with courage, not silence.
You took an oath to serve the public and protect the integrity of our government. That includes speaking up when something is wrong, even if it is politically inconvenient. Ignoring the issue does not make it disappear, it only erodes public trust further.
You also need to consider the political reality: voters are paying attention. Many are frustrated, and continued inaction will not go unnoticed. If accountability is not demonstrated, there will be consequences at the ballot box. Control of Congress is never guaranteed, and dissatisfaction like this is exactly what drives major shifts.
So I ask again, what are you doing to address this? And if the answer is nothing, why not?
The American people deserve transparency, accountability, and leadership that is fully capable of carrying out the responsibilities of the office.
