Oppose RISAA: Protect Privacy Rights and Prevent Surveillance Abuse

To: Rep. DeGette, Sen. Bennet, Sen. Hickenlooper

From: A constituent in Denver, CO

April 17

The Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act (RISAA) threatens privacy rights by broadening governmental surveillance powers under Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). This broadening permits the collection of a wider range of information, potentially targeting vulnerable groups such as immigrants and asylum seekers. The potential for power abuse is alarming. Upholding the constitutional rights of all individuals, prioritizing their privacy and freedom from undue surveillance, is paramount. Therefore, it is urged to oppose RISAA and advocate for legislation that respects and safeguards individual privacy rights. Intelligence reform should not infringe upon these fundamental rights.
